The Person
Behind the Work.
AI leader, hands-on architect, and mentor with 20+ years building enterprise solutions — and 2+ years going all-in on AI adoption, governance, and agentic systems.
About Prishan Fernando
I don't just talk about AI — I build with it, govern it, and drive real adoption inside organizations.
With 20+ years in software development and 12+ years in enterprise architecture, I've spent the last two years going all-in on AI: building frameworks that eliminate manual effort by ~70%, leading internal AI task teams, upskilling practitioners, and architecting agentic systems that are delivering measurable results today. As Director of Global Salesforce at Slalom, I sit at the intersection of enterprise delivery and AI transformation — where strategy has to become working software.
AI adoption fails when it's treated as a technology project. It succeeds when it's treated as a people and process transformation — with the right governance, the right guardrails, and leaders who can bring skeptics along. That's what I do.
The AI Chapter
2024–25 was a turning point. While most were watching AI from the sidelines, I chose full immersion — and it's changed how I lead, deliver, and think about what's possible.
- Built AI-assisted delivery frameworks that cut manual scripting effort by ~70%, saving 200–300 hours per project — now reused across multiple enterprise engagements
- Spearheaded Slalom's internal AI Task Team, scaling AI capabilities and adoption across the Western Canada practice
- Earned Agentforce certifications before agentic systems were mainstream — currently architecting production Agentforce deployments for enterprise clients
- Actively upskilling practitioners and clients on AI tools, safe implementation, and practical adoption strategies that stick
- 70+ GitHub repositories spanning Claude integrations, custom AI agents, Next.js applications, and experimental frameworks — because real learning happens when you build
My GitHub tells the story of someone who doesn't wait for permission to experiment. Late nights with Cursor, Claude Code, and Supabase. Proofs-of-concept that become production frameworks. Continuous experimentation as a professional discipline.
AI Safety & Governance
Deploying AI responsibly isn't optional — it's the job.
I've written extensively on AI data security, enterprise governance frameworks, and how organizations across sectors — healthcare, financial services, enterprise consulting — should be thinking about AI risk. I help teams and organizations move fast and move safely: building the frameworks that prevent shadow AI, protect sensitive data, align deployment with compliance requirements, and ensure AI is implemented with clear accountability.
Whether advising on vendor selection, data residency, or establishing internal AI use policies, I bring both the technical depth and the organizational change experience to make governance real — not just a policy document.
What Defines My Approach
Great technology serves people, not the other way around.
Whether I'm designing multi-cloud integrations or mentoring emerging architects, I focus on solutions that are both technically sophisticated and genuinely useful. Innovation and pragmatism aren't mutually exclusive — my AI frameworks prove it. The same principle that guides every architecture decision also guides how I introduce AI into organizations: start with the human need, design backward from there, and measure outcomes that actually matter.
Technical Excellence Meets Human Impact
My technical expertise spans the full Salesforce ecosystem — Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, CPQ, and Agentforce — combined with modern AI tooling, web development, and complex enterprise integrations.
I've led multi-brand CRM consolidations for global manufacturers, architected high-stakes healthcare and financial services platforms, and built reusable accelerators now driving opportunities across multiple markets. Each project succeeds because architectural rigor is balanced with empathy for the humans on both sides of the system.
Building Teams, Not Just Solutions
Leadership isn't about having the answers — it's about empowering others to find them.
My leadership journey began unexpectedly at Groundswell. I didn't think I had leadership skills — but once I became a people leader, it unlocked a hidden passion for growing people through trust and respect. Starting with 2 co-op students, I learned by doing. That humility has shaped everything since.
At Slalom, I've grown the Western Canada practice from the ground up: 100+ technical interviews, developers evolved into architects, and a culture where people feel safe taking risks and exceeding what they thought possible.
This extends directly to AI. I actively share what I learn, accelerate others' confidence with new tools, and build environments where AI becomes something everyone can reach for — not just a few specialists. The AI chapter isn't mine alone; it belongs to every team member I've helped take their first real step into it.
My proudest moments aren't millions in projects secured. They're hearing: "Prishan pushed me to try something I didn't think I could do." That's the leader I aspire to be — in cloud architecture and in AI transformation.
The Technical Journey
I've always been drawn to challenges others avoid. I led global teams across six time zones delivering multi-version enterprise applications at HSBC. When I discovered Salesforce in 2013, I saw something revolutionary — a platform where business logic, user experience, and integration could finally live in harmony.
Since then: 12+ certifications, Agentblazer Innovator status, and solutions spanning every major Salesforce cloud. But certifications are checkpoints, not destinations. The real growth came from projects that turned fragmented systems into unified experiences — and the ongoing commitment to stay at the edge of what's technically possible.
Beyond the Code
When I'm not architecting solutions or running AI experiments, you'll find me contributing to open-source projects, exploring servant leadership principles, or applying systems thinking to financial independence and long-term investing.
My side projects range from personal finance tools to real estate management accelerators — always building, always learning. I believe the same principles that create great software create great lives: intentional design, continuous improvement, and genuine service to others.
